Maniur Grama Panchayaht is located in Kozhikkode District of Kerala State -India. The West, East and South sides of this Panchayath is bounded by the Kuttiadi River. Being the three sides of Panchayath is covered by river it was very difficult to reach Maniyur.People depended boat services to go to Educational institutions and to Hospitals at Payyoli ,Vatakara and at Kozhikkode.
ENGINEERING COLLEGE
The first Engineering College under the Co-operative Academy of Professional Education (CAPE), Thiruvananthapuram, established by Govt. of Kerala, started functioning in June 1999.
The college is affiliated to Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT) and approved by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE).
During the 90s, there was severe shortage in the State for higher education opportunities in professional programs. To meet this need, Government of Kerala had established in 1999 the Co-operative Academy of Professional Education (CAPE) as an apex body that would organise and run new self-financing professional institutions in Engineering, Medicine and various allied disciplines, incorporating the state-of-the-art concepts and technology in these rapidly changing areas.
CAPE is an autonomous Society registered under the Travancore-Cochin Literary, Scientific and Charitable Societies Act, 1955. The Hon'ble Chief Minister of Kerala, Shri.Oommen Chandy is the Ex-officio Chairman of the Society. The Hon'ble Minister for Co-operation , Shri. C.N.Balakrishnan is the Ex-officio Vice Chairman of the Society and the Chairman of its Board of Governors. The membership of the Society includes, amongst others, the Secretary to Government (Co-operation), Director of Technical Education, Director of Medical Education, Registrar of Co-operative Societies, Presidents of Kerala State and District Co-operative Banks, eminent experts in Technical and Medical Education and Industrialists. The governance of the CAPE is vested with a seven member Executive Committee headed by the Hon'ble Minister for Co-operation & Devaswoms.
NAVODAYA
Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Calicut , a fully residential, co-educational institution established in the year 1987-88, under Ministry of Human Resource development, Govt. Of India. The Vidyalaya is affiliated to CBSE.
The Vidyalaya is located at Maniyur, which is at a distance of 11kms from Vadakara on Vadakara-Maniyur Road.The Vidyalaya has got separate hostels for boys and girls. Free food is being provided to all students. The Vidyalaya has got all facilities like well equipped computer lab with 24 hours, net facility accessible to all students, Science labs, Maths Lab Library, Value Education, Play ground, Gymnasium, Museum, Smart Class room, Multi purpose hall etc.
